If you’re looking for an easy, unique way to lose weight, Hydroxycut Sprinkles claim to be the perfect product for you.
Rather than the usual capsule form, this supplement is a small packet of sprinkles users simply shake over their food. The Hydroxycut website says the Sprinkles are “zero calories, zero sugar, and zero caffeine,” making them “an effective way to lose weight” that works as you eat.
However, I can’t help but be skeptical. How can a supplement in such a strange form actually promote significant weight loss?
What Is Hydroxycut?
Hydroxycut is a weight loss product brand manufactured by Iovate Health Sciences, Inc. Since 1996, Iovate has “deliver[ed] the health benefits and results [customers] want with formulas based on key ingredients with sound, scientific support and produced with total commitment to product quality and excellence,” according to the company’s website.
However, controversy surrounds the Hydroxycut brand. In 2003, the brand was sued for burying evidence proving its products were ineffective and very dangerous. Among the concealed evidence were tests and studies showing that Hydroxycut products caused liver failure, seizures, and cardiovascular issues. Then, in 2007, a 19-year-old died from Hydroxycut-induced liver failure.
All of this led to an FDA-enforced recall of all Hydroxycut products in 2009. The brand then changed all its formulas, taking out dangerous ingredients and replacing them with natural extracts.
What’s Inside the Sprinkles?
Hydroxycut Sprinkles contain just 1 ingredient: 155 mg Hydroxyprovia. This blend, which is used in nearly every Hydroxycut product, contains:
• Lady’s mantle (alchemilla vulgaris leaf)
• Wild olive (olea europaea leaf)
• Komijn (cuminum cyminum seed)
• Wild mint (mentha longifolia leaf)
This exact ingredient blend is actually clinically proven to promote weight loss . Reportedly, the blend increases thermogenesis and speeds metabolic rate. It also possesses antioxidants, meaning it flushes out harmful toxins that slow the weight loss process.
However, this blend is only clinically proven when in pill form (310 mg). Each Hydroxycut Sprinkles packet only contains 155 mg of Hydroxyprovia, so it might not produce the same results.
Additionally, pills allow manufacturers to include a very specific, controlled dosage in each serving. Since users sprinkle a packet of Hydroxycut Sprinkles on their food, there’s no way to guarantee that the entire packet will get in your mouth.
How Do You Use Hydroxycut Sprinkles?
The Hydroxycut website says, “Have 3 servings per day. Sprinkle 1 packet…evenly over the surface of your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and mix if possible. Consume entire serving of Hydroxycut Sprinkles at each meal.”
They also recommend the following:
• Follow a low-calorie diet
• Exercise regularly
• Avoid snacking
• Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day.
These are good tips that will result in weight loss whether you use this product or not. This makes it unclear if Hydroxycut Sprinkles actually influence weight loss, or if a healthy lifestyle is actually responsible for a slimmer you.
What Do Customers Think?
Let’s see what real, unbiased consumers say about Hydroxycut Sprinkles on DietPills.org:
Bonita: “I just started Hydroxycut Sprinkles. They smell awful and taste bad. I tried to mix it in my food to cover up the taste, I could still taste it. So far I have not lost any weight. I have used this product for about 3 weeks now.”
DEBnAZ: “Product has a slight odor but no aftertaste in foods such as soup or my fruit smoothies but my salad was tough getting through…It appears to suppress the appetite. I am on day 2 and I have no cravings. I am using a balanced diet with exercise for this 90 days. My advice is to use only on foods that can hide the taste.”
Maxine: “I haven’t been using long enough to rate how well it works but I’m extremely disappointed by the fact that I sprinkled it on my bagel and it tasted like I put cayenne pepper on it!!!!! I think it’s a rip off but I could not get past that taste so I wouldn’t really know. It wasn’t just a taste like it burned my whole throat and nose and it stayed like that for like 15-20 mins. Terrible!”
Judging from these testimonials, Hydroxycut’s claims that the product “doesn’t alter the taste of your food,” aren’t completely true.
How Do You Buy Hydroxycut Sprinkles?
You can buy a 1-month supply (90 packets) directly from the Hydroxycut website for $24.99. The product is also available on eSupplements.com for $14.49.
Unfortunately, Hydroxycut does not provide any information regarding a return policy anywhere on its website. Thus, if you see zero results after using these Sprinkles, there’s no way for you to get your money back.
Should You Try Hydroxycut Sprinkles?
This is not an impressive weight loss supplement. It may contain a clinically-proven ingredient blend, but the Hydroxycut Sprinkle dosage is too low to be effective. Additionally, there is no money-back guarantee, and it has received only negative customer reviews.
