Shock Therapy Reviews

Shock Therapy claims to be the “pre-workout shake that will help power you up for the gym and make you feel like hitting the plates.” Shock Therapy contains nitric oxide activators, creatine and stimulants all that work to give you the boosted energy levels needed to give you a more vascular appearance and to pump up your size. Shock Therapy states that they are a cut above the rest because they also include an antioxidant complex which they refer to as “essential when taking nitric oxide stimulating ingredients, due to their oxidative nature on human cells.” All of these elements work together to give you the “perpetual pump” and the “intense workout you crave.” Shock Therapy is produced and sold by Universal Nutrition.

Shock Therapy consists of five different complexes all engineered to address the specific needs of the muscles and tissues that you utilize when lifting. The first complex is called the NO Super Pump Complex and contains arginine AKG, citrulline malate, and l-carnosine. The second is the Muscle Volumizing Complex and it contains tricreatine matrix, betaine anhydrous, beta alanine, and NAD. The third is called the Energy and Nootropic Complex which is made up of l-taurine, choline bitartrate, s-methylxanthine complex, l-tyrosine, yerba mate, evodiamine, and vinpocetine. The fourth is the Antioxidant Complex which contains green tea extract, R-ALA, and grapeseed extract. And finally there is the Electrolyte and PH Delivery Complex which consists of inulin, sodium bicarbonate, potassium phosphate, magnesium phosphate, and trisodium phosphate.

Overall we aren’t too impressed with Shock Therapy. More than half of the consumer reviews we have come across have been negative and the ones that were positive seemed like they were planted by the company. Without any scientific data to support Shock Therapy’s claims the only real proof we have to work with is a lackluster ingredient list that doesn’t give us any portion amounts and the words of previous users. We do not feel comfortable recommending the purchase or use of Shock Therapy at this time.

Good Product

5.0 of 5.0

23 Jul 2009 - d of Wisconsin, USA

It’s cheap, lasts long, tastes decent, and works better than most pre-workout supps. Most people don’t value the “therapy” component in this supplement which is the antioxidant complex of grape seed extract, NAC, green tea extract (60%) and the rest of this area. This is the only ore workout which has this (i think), and it is VERY IMPORTANT in pre-workouts due to their already oxidated stress which N.O. brings to the body cells(many people dont realize this). The complex also helps with immune support, mental health, and infection. This attracted me to the supplement, and i’m glad it gives me a good feeling along with the “therapy” concept which Universal was trying to get at. I have tried about 12 pre-workouts. This is definitely one of the top three. Every one is different for a certain person. Therefore, some preworkouts are better than others. I recommend trying it before sticking with the one you are currently on.

The best

5.0 of 5.0

08 May 2009 - Jon of Pennsylvania, USA

Prior to using this I was a die-hard advocate of SuperPump250, and held that as the standard of all pre-workout supplements. While I still feel that it is a great product, after trying this I will likely not go back. The energy and focus is incredible, the pumps very nice, and it certainly helps with my strength. The energy seems a lot more smooth and controlled than with SuperPump, and there is no crash or jitters. Every workout that I’ve had while using this product has been excellent. SuperPump250 recently went on sale, and I picked up a tub. I used it twice before switching back to Shock Therapy. Only con was that the taste isn’t the best; however, that doesn’t even matter.

Morning Workout Wonder

5.0 of 5.0

06 Oct 2008 - Tom of South Carolina, USA

We’ve all heard the about the benefits of working out first thing in the morning. Supposedly you are at your top strength level in the morning. Your testosterone levels are elevated in the morning. Its a great way to start your day yada yada yada. All these thing are true but let’s face it…It’s hard getting mentally & physically ready for training in the morning. BUT NO MORE. ST lights you up like a torch. Down one glass of ST and within 20 minutes you are sparked! Shock Therapy, The ultimate Morning Supplement.

Better Value

I have used NOExplode and MRI Black Powder, but I’m not too thrilled with the idea of pumping large amounts of caffeine into my system, not to mention the price. I bought a unit of Shock Therapy ($40) after reading some reviews, and I’m glad I did. ST gives me a huge boost that NOE and BP did not. Even on days that I don’t feel like hitting the gym, ST gets me motivated. Its not over-hyped or over-priced and doesn’t come in fancy packaging, but it works great. I noticed a 2 rep difference from the previous week and a steady level of focus and energy instead of the peak and crash that caffeine often causes. Universal Nutrition has been around for a while and to me its obvious why. Now I’m thinking about switching to some of their other products.

Sleep Deprivation

3.0 of 5.0

01 Jun 2008 - Vince of South Carolina, USA

This product is excellent at first. I gained size and increased the amount of weight and repetitions. it is a very good boost to energize your workouts. Unfortunately, it kept me up all night. Sometimes I wouldn’t get to sleep until 4 or 5 am. Also, I would get a jittery feeling in my arms and chest. I would recomend this product as a “once in a while boost,” but do not take it on a continual basis.

Shock therapy is awsome

5.0 of 5.0

07 Feb 2008 - Jeff of Ohio, USA

SHock therapy is a really good product. Its not expensive compared to all the others. ive tried n.o. xplode and nano vapor shock therapy is a better pump than both. I usually dont get a “pump” off of any pre workout supplement. The best part is you really only need 1 scoop and its get you ready to lift hard. With n.o. xplode ive taken three scoop and not even felt a pump with shock therapy its much better. If you take one scoop before evrey lift it will last 50 workouts so i highly reccomend this prouct. its great

Best stuff around

5.0 of 5.0

18 Dec 2007 - Jake of Virginia, USA

I gave this stuff a shot after trying NO-Xplode and Cell-tech. To be honest with you it’s far better and cheaper. No-Xplode gave me brutal headaches and everything pushed by muscle tech seems way over hyped and over priced. Sure, it tastes a bit rough but I buy it for the results it provides not the flavor. If you are feeling sluggish ST will surely bring you into the mood.

Headaches

1.0 of 5.0

11 Nov 2007 - Andy of Wisconsin, USA

I took ST for a week and a half…and I loved it while I was taking it until I started to experience excruciating headaches. Though I have taken NO explode, and Xpand, and NO2 and none of those ever gave me headaches like this. I would def. say it worked the best but be careful for the headaches (I had one for 13 days straight and that was after I discontinued use!)

Need Therapy

25 Jun 2007 - Eric of Indiana, USA

Finally a pre workout drink that works. This stuff isn’t the best tasting, but results are good. It exceeds No Xplode and many others. Price and servings are very good. You cannot go wrong with Shock Therapy. Buy this stuff you won’t regret it, very potent stuff. It’s not your grandmas sippin drink.

Rethinking

2.0 of 5.0

13 Jun 2007 - Kevin of Pennsylvania, USA

okay so I wrote the review on May 31st above. I really have changed my mind about Shock Therapy. I can’t say I have extreme pumps all the time, but 2 out of 3 times I am experiencing much better focus, energy burst, and good pumps. I still have had a few nights where its been impossible to fall asleep. Thats the downside, but I do workout at night.

Used Both NO and ST

4.0 of 5.0

31 May 2007 - Kevin of Pennsylvania, USA

I’ve tried both NO and ST in the last 5 months. I’ve been very serious about lifting for about 2 years. I don’t think either of these do anything to make me lift more. I have a little more energy after work, but this just could be mental. I never had any side effect except once or 2x I didn’t sleep well. I might have noticed some pumps, a little more veins etc. If your looking for something to try just to shake things up go for shock therapy b/c its cheaper and the same thing. I got cherry and it was fine.

shock therapy

24 Aug 2006 - Chad of Alabama, USA

I used to swear by N.O.-xplode but decided to see if I could find a cheaper replacement. Shock Therapy by Universal beats N.O.-xplode hands down. The tub lasts twice as long and I paid 29.95 for it. Its not overhyped or over advertised but the stuff works great. The pumps are more intense and last longer. The energy and mental focus has the edge on N.O.-xplode also. Universal has been around since the early 80′s without over-hype and advertisement and they’re still going strong. Thier products speak for themselves.
