Even the most elementary gym-goer has at least some idea that you need protein to increase your production of muscle mass. However, for the more advanced bodybuilder, the line gets a little more fuzzy when it comes to deciding which protein supplement is going to be exactly what they want to meet their fitness goals.

So when we saw that Six Star Whey Protein Plus promises to offer the purest protein with the least fluff and additives, we were definitely interested enough to take a closer look.

What Is Six Star Whey Protein Plus?

MuscleTech has recently released Six Star Whey Protein Plus. Like a protein supplement should, this product is aimed at drastically increasing muscle growth and output.

After a quick evaluation, Six Star Whey Protein Plus seems to have most of the right components you should look for but we wanted to take a closer look to see if there’s anything that sets it apart from all the rest.

What Does Six Star Whey Protein Plus Do?

Besides protein, this product also contains creatine monohydrate and BCAAs. Creatine monohydrate supplies the muscle with more concentrated amounts of ATP which will enable your muscles to pump harder and longer and thus breakdown to be rebuilt and strengthened.

Six Star Whey Protein Plus uses BCAAs, or bonded chain amino acids, to trigger protein synthesis, so the torn muscles can be repaired quickly and new muscle can be added on.

MuscleTech has also included some statistical research conducted on some of Six Star Whey Protein Plus’s core ingredients. The research they show indicates that this product has some rather effective components.

One clinical study showed that Six Star Whey Protein Plus helped build more than twice as much strength (34 pounds of added weight vs 14 pounds) and four times as much muscle mass as the placebos (8 pounds lean muscle gain vs 2 pounds).

However, while these statistics sound impressive, MuscleTech fails to mention just what these core ingredients were. That being the case, it could have been just the protein that produced these results. If that’s true, almost every other product on the market would show similar results in this clinical study.

How Do You Take Six Star Whey Protein Plus?

Six Star Whey Protein is a shake mix that is usually added to milk or water to create a supplemental protein source to be taken after you workout and at any time throughout the day.

MuscleTech’s website boasts that Six Star Whey Protein has received awards for its delicious flavors including: chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and cookies and cream.

Our Opinion

While Six Star Whey Protein Plus has some solid ingredients, it contains nothing to set it apart from the competition. We’re not saying that it isn’t going to work, but it doesn’t necessarily contain anything that radical or innovative to make it special.

To really get down to it, Six Star Whey Protein Plus is a good product, and we want to recommend great products, but there are plenty of options out there that go above and beyond this supplement.
