Avinol PM has effective ingredients and fulfills advertising claims. The addition of 5-HTP, however, makes me question if Avinol PM is safe to use. If you want to try Avinol PM, purchase with caution, especially if you have existing muscle or blood conditions.

Avinol PM is a sleeping aid purported to help you “get to sleep faster so you can wake up refreshed and ready to go.”

Many sleeping pills contain addictive chemicals, but Avinol PM sets itself apart with an all-natural, non-addictive formula.

I took a closer look at Avinol PM’s ingredients to see if it lives up to the company’s claims.

What’s Inside Avinol PM?

The ingredients in Avinol PM are not listed with individual concentrations, making it hard to determine if it contains effective doses.

Melatonin.Melatonin regulates your body’s internal clock. Low melatonin levels make it hard to fall asleep. In one study, 2 mg melatonin was administered for 3 weeks. It effectively improved sleep quality, but the study participants were all 76 years old. [1]

5-HTP. 5-HTP produces the calming neurotransmitter serotonin. Participants taking 5-HTP in one study experienced increased REM sleep when taking 600 mg 5-HTP total. [2]

Lemon Balm Extract. A member of the mint family, lemon balm reduces anxiety and promotes sleep. After taking 160 mg valerian and 80 mg lemon balm, 68 women experienced improved sleep quality.[3]

Chamomile Extract. Chamomile has been favored historically as an herb with sedative properties. In one animal study, 300 mg/kg chamomile improved sleep latency in rats [4] More studies are needed to determine chamomile’s effectiveness in humans.

Passionflower Powder. Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical which lowers brain activity and promotes relaxation, is increased by passionflower. Passionflower, administered in 45 liquid drops a day, treated anxiety equally as well as prescription drug Oxazepam. [5]

L-Theanine. The amino acid theanine reduces the effects of stress, according to one study where 200 mg theanine was dissolved in 100 m of water and given to 12 participants. [6] Theanine also lowers high blood pressure and anxiety.

Hops. Best known for adding flavor and relaxation properties to beer, hops naturally produces sedation. Participants with insomnia experienced moderate results when using a 41.9 mg hops and 187 mg valerian combination.[7]

Orange Peel. Heartburn, indigestion, and other uncomfortable digestive problems are often accelerated when you lay down. Orange peel is popularly used to calm these negative symptoms, but I couldn’t find clinical evidence supporting this use.

Side Effects of Avinol PM

The formula in Avinol PM is natural, true to the company’s claims. Most of the ingredients are safe and effective.

However, 5-HTP is undergoing investigation by experts. It supposedly causes a muscle and blood condition called eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome.[8] No research confirms the link between EMS and 5-HTP, but experts urge consumers to use 5-HTP with caution.

Using Avinol PM Effectively

Avinol PM comes in dissolvable tablets. Place 1 tablet under tongue and allow it to dissolve completely. Avinol PM is supposed to work immediately, so take right before going to bed.

The company also claims Avinol PM is safe enough to use repeatedly or in large doses; however, use with caution and only increase pill intake if 1 tablet is not effective.

Avinol PM should not be used during the day, when drowsiness inhibits safety.

The Best Price of Avinol PM

A Final Word on Avinol PM
