Weight Loss

Key ingredient is decent

To be honest, there are not any particularly impressive aspects of this product. Yes, we all like the idea of CLA, but scientifically there is nothing to back it up. Though CLA has been linked to weight loss in higher doses, those found in this product are insufficient for any effect to come about.

We could possibly see this supplement as an accessory to a healthy diet, lifestyle, and other types of supplements; however, taking this alone probably will not yield significant results.

With all of the supplements with ingredient lists a mile long, sometimes it is nice to see some with lists that are concise and to the point. GNC Total Lean CLA, for example, is pretty simple.

It sells through GNC and a few other major health and weight loss sites, and the description is short and sweet:

“A naturally occurring fatty acid derived from safflower seeds” and “Clinically researched.”

Unfortunately, those descriptions don’t really say too much about how the product works or what it contains. We can tell you about CLA, how it promotes a healthy heart, how it’s comparable to omega fatty acids, and how it has been through multiple clinical studies showing how heart healthy it can be.

However, whether or not it contributes to weight loss is another story. If you didn’t notice, GNC Total Lean CLA did not specify what results the clinical studies uncovered, and “clinically researched” is not quite the same as “clinically proven.”

Total Lean CLA Ingredients

CLA has been clinically researched, but subjects in studies using 4500mg (twice the serving provided by GNC Total Lean CLA) did not lose weight, even when researchers were specifically looking for measurable differences in weight and body composition. Though clinical research has shown that there are links between this ingredient and weight loss, there is not nearly enough in the supplement to make any effect.

Since this is the only ingredient in Total Lean CLA, the outlook seems pretty grim for this product.

Is there any hope for GNC Total Lean CLA?

Consumer Reviews

Many who tried this product did say that they noticed a difference, but they were using it in addition to eating a strict and very healthy diet. Most others saw little to no effect, even after they had been using it for a month.

Though the positive and negative reviews on Total Lean CLA were about even, there is still not conclusive evidence of the effectiveness of this product.

At a friendly $22 per bottle, it would seem that trying out this product would not be a bad idea, especially since there are no reported side effects. However, chances are that not much will happen to make this product worth spending $22 for.
